Fashion Wire Daily - New York - There was no floral headdress too wild nor detail or bud too small for the Tulips & Pansies: A Headdress Affair catwalk on a rainy Thursday, May 19, in New York. The 10th annual spring benefit combined fashion and flowers as some of the biggest names in New York fashion dressed the models, who were then topped off by expert florists to create a one of a kind look.
Of the 19 looks, each one was more elaborate than the next, making it no easy feat for judges to pick winners for each awarding category. An imperial Trojan-inspired look included bear grass with protruding sparkling spikes amidst peonies and orchids. Notable blossoming head gear included a Twilight forest and vampire-inspired headpiece, created by the floral set designers of the movie, which won for most original. The award for most entertaining went to a Cleopatra look that included headpiece and floral train.
The yearly event which is run by VillageCare raises money to serve the medical and rehabilitation needs of those living in New York with HIV/AIDS. Chairs of the event included Kelly Cutrone of Peoples Revolution, Fern Mallis, founder of NY Fashion Week, and philanthropist Ariana Rockefeller.
