Chabrol Gone from French Cosmo

By Karl Treacy
Fashion Wire Daily Paris - Anne Chabrol, editorial director of the French version of Cosmopolitan magazine, has stepped down from her post, FWD has learned.

Her resignation actually happened two weeks ago, though the magazine did not make the departure public. Calls to Cosmopolitan's offices in the Paris suburb of Issy-les-Moulineaux were met with a reluctance to discuss the matter. Chabrol herself could not be reached for comment.

A spokesperson for the magazine, who declined to identify herself, named Sylvie Overnoy as the replacement for Chabrol, who held her position at the helm of the magazine for the last six years. Overnoy was, up until now, a joint editor-in-chief of the magazine along with Simon Liberati.

The Cosmopolitan spokesperson declined to give any reason for Chabrol's departure or an indication of her future plans. Details on the permanence of Overnoy's alleged tenure as editorial director were not forthcoming either.

Prior to joining Cosmopolitan, Chabrol was editor-in-chief of the French edition of Glamour. Despite being widely regarded as one of the preeminent editors-in-chief in the world of French fashion, her time heading Glamour was not a financially successful one and as a result Conde Nast closed the magazine in 1994.
