Fashion Wire Daily New York - Lori Burgess is heading back to 4 Times Square, after less than a year as publisher of Elle. The former Mademoiselle publisher was named to the same position at House & Garden on Friday. She replaces Brenda Saget, who resigned Thursday. Burgess served as the publisher of Mademoiselle from November 1999 until October 2001, when Conde Nast shuttered the 66-year-old magazine. She was previously publisher of Seventeen, from 1996 to 1999, after joining the Primedia title as advertising director in 1993. She has also served as associate publisher at YM.
"We're delighted to bring Lori back to Conde Nast," said the company's President and CEO Steve Florio in a statement Friday. "She is a terrific publisher, with exceptional sales and marketing skills."
Elle has not yet named a replacement for Burgess. The Hachette Filipacchi title saw ad pages down 18 percent in 2002.
